Q Card gives Kestrel installers the competitive edge

The leading UPVC building products manufacturer helps its installers achieve the GQA NVQ 2 Level 2 Certificate in Domestic Fascia, Soffit and Bargeboard Installation, awarding them the Q Card on completion.

Mark Billington of Blackrod near Bolton believes that the scheme has already given his business the edge over other roofline installers.

He said: “I find that when I explain that we hold the NVQ certification and can offer an extended 35-year guarantee, nine times out of ten we get the job. People understand the value in getting the job done properly.”

Mark, of Billington & Son Roofing Services, is among approximately 220 people who have passed Kestrel’s Q Card scheme over the last 12 months. Kestrel was awarded its first Q Card in August 2011 with the aim of helping to drive standards in the industry and ensure Kestrel registered UPVC roofline installers offer the best quality work.

Mark, who has 10 years of experience in roofing, said: “There are unfortunately a few cowboys in this industry, so a scheme like this can only improve standards and help us educate customers about getting the job done properly.”

The qualification, accredited by the GQA and delivered by Neil Whitfield Training (NWT), is valued at £1,500 per person but is free for Kestrel registered installers. Assessed on the job, those passing the course can also offer an extended 35-year guarantee on Kestrel’s calcium organic white product range.

Sales and marketing director for Kestrel Simon Reynolds said: “I want to congratulate Mark and everyone else who has passed the NVQ 2 in Domestic Fascia, Soffit and Bargeboard Installation over the last 12 months.

“It is great to see so many installers taking the opportunity to formalise their skills. Our aim at Kestrel is always to help our customers gain the competitive edge, so it is particularly good to hear that the public is recognising the importance of ensuring they get a first-class installer offering high-quality products.”
