Kestrel counts on team-spirited Timo

Kestrel apprentice Timo McQuire has proven he can be counted on as a valued member of the UPVC fascia and cladding brand’s team.

The 20-year-old accounts assistant, who has just passed his level 3 AAT exams, is always keen to take on more responsibility and help other departments as the business moves forward after lockdowns.

“I’m an accounts apprentice and while people think it’s all about maths, it’s really more about analysis, forecasting and budgeting,” Timo explained.

“I really enjoy working at Kestrel and in the three years, I’ve been here the links and communication between departments have become stronger and stronger. I really enjoy working with other departments and developing a broader view of the business. “

Having started at Kestrel straight from school, Timo immediately started working through his accounting – AAT – exams and, while Covid lockdowns have slowed down his progress, he expects to complete his level 4 exams in around 18 months.

As an active sports enthusiast, Timo admits the lack of structure during the lockdown and a period of furlough was particularly challenging.

Now restrictions have eased, he’s making up for lost time and Timo has a varied list of places he plans to visit including the east coast of America and the Maldives.

Closer to home, the keen footballer plays in a Sunday league and visits the gym most days while also squeezing in Mixed Martial Arts to his busy schedule.
