Business development manager Sam Porter bowled over by new role at Kestrel

Having dreamed of becoming a cricket commentator as a kid, Kestrel’s new business development manager for the South-East of England Sam Porter, ended up using his gift of the gab in sales.

With more than a decade in construction sales, Sam started working for the fascia, cladding and window-line brand in December 2021.

Based in Gravesend, Sam spent time in Kestrel’s Scunthorpe head office before heading out to meet customers and said he is bowled over by the brand’s products, people and customers.

“It’s great to be on the road again after the restrictions we have faced during the last two years,” Sam said. “I like to get out to meet people, see their businesses and get a better understanding of their needs and their customers.”

Having met and spoken to some of Kestrel’s key customers in London, the Home Counties and East Anglia, Sam has found said that despite a ‘crazy year’ there is a lot of optimism within the industry.

“Customers are very positive, Kestrel has strengthened its reputation for reliability with distribution throughout the difficulties during the last couple of years and I know customers are really grateful for that level of service,” he said.

“There’s strong demand in the home improvement and building markets with builders planning projects for or five months ahead. There’s also significant demand for the more premium anthracite grey and foiled products, which really add to a home’s kerb appeal.”

Outside of work, the father of two manages to fit in ‘a lot’ of cricket and is vice president of his local club. As a lifelong Arsenal fan and having taught people to ski and sail, Sam is now trying to pass on that love of sport to his two young children, Arthur and Phoebe.
